Suresh Raina missing from Indian squad, to miss third ODI?
The Indian middle order batsman, Suresh Raina, who missed the first two ODI’s of the series due to viral fever has not arrived Mohali for the third ODI between India and New Zealand. This has now raised concerns over his participation in the third ODI and now it can be safely assumed that he will miss the third ODI as the match is to take place tomorrow, 24 hours from now and there are no signs of Raina arriving the scene anytime soon. Even if he arrives here today or early morning, we may not see him being part of playing XI because of his late arrival to the city.
This has now raised concerns that why BCCI is hiding the fitness of Suresh Raina as earlier they said that Raina will miss the first ODI. News of him missing the second game came later. There is no issue of Raina missing the games due to viral fever but the problem is that his continued unavailability leaves M.S. Dhoni to choose from 14 players. Also, travelling with team members from one part of the country to another, will add to his exertion and in that case, he will need more time to recover.
Instead, he should himself relinquish his place in the team and should take a few time off so as another youngster can get exposure of being in the Indian camp, even if he do not get a place in playing XI.
Going by the current scenario and looking at the movement of the Indian team, we may see BCCI making it official that Raina will also miss the third One-day. We may see Raina missing out to make a cut in the squad for the final two ODI’s as well because of his health issues. We may hardly see any changes in the squad for final two ODI’s, however, Ambati Rayudu or Yuvraj Singh may be included in place of Suresh Raina.
Suresh Raina not with the Indian squad in Mohali. Rohit Sharma is fit. #INDvNZ
