Mushfiqur Rahim receives nasty blow on head by Ben Stokes’ bouncer
Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim had a mighty scare after being hit on the head by a dangerous Ben Stokes bouncer during the first innings of the ongoing Test match.
The incident happened in the 53rd over of the innings when Rahim failed to correctly read the line of the short ball. The batsman tried to evade the nasty delivery by arching back, however, he failed to get out of the line and received a nasty blow on the back of his head. The Bangladesh skipper was floored on the ground straight away after receiving the blow as the physios rushed on the ground to check him. The incident brought back the horrific memories of former Australian batsman Phillipe Hughes who died after being hit by a bouncer. Rahim’s father, who was attending the match, looked worried but soon it turned into delight after his son stood on his feet and resumed batting. However, he did not remain on the crease for long after the incident as he was dismissed two balls later by Moeen Ali.
Here is the video of that nasty incident:
Meanwhile, the hosts squandered a great chance to take command of the match after being in a strong position early on.They were cruising at 171 for 1, but a dramatic collapse saw them losing their remaining 9 wickets for only 49 runs.
In reply to Bangladesh’s 220, England has started poorly and are 50 for the loss of three wickets after the first day’s play.
