Historical victory for Bangladesh against England in 2nd test match!

Bangladesh created history by defeating England in the 2nd test match by 108 runs at Mirpur, Dhaka just a few minutes ago. It was an outstanding performance by Bangladesh who played some aggressive cricket in the match. This was their first win in 10 test matches over England.

Bangladesh won the toss and choose to bat first. They lost an early wicket of Imrul Kayes for just 1 run. After that Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque put on an excellent 171 runs for the second wicket. During that time Tamim Iqbal completed his 100. From 171 for 1, the England bowlers fought back and bowled out Bangladesh for 220. The pick of bowlers for England was Moeen Ali who picked 5 wickets.

England too started their innings on a poor note losing Duckett, Cook and Balance on the first day. At the end of day 1, the visitors were 50 for 3. On the 2nd day, Bangladesh struck early blows which put England team under pressure. Chris Woakes and Rashid put on 99 runs for the 9th wicket. England was bowled for 244 with a lead of 24. Rashid remained not out on 44. Mehedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh taking 6 for 82.

Bangladesh second innings began off to a positive start with Tamim Iqbal scoring quick-fire 40 runs. Imrul Kayes scored a half century which put the England team on the backfoot. At the end of the second day, Bangladesh were 152 for 3. On the third day, contributions from Shakib AL Hasan and Hom helped Bangladesh set a target of 273. Bangladesh was bowled out for 296. For England Adil Rashid picked 4 wickets.

Chasing a target of 273, England openers Ben Duckett and Cook gave the team a solid start. At tea England were 100 for 0 with Duckett and Cook scoring half centuries. After the wicket of Ben Duckett, Bangladesh bowlers created pressure on England batsmen. From 100 for 0, England was bowled out for 164 runs. Ben Stokes was the third highest scorer for England with 25 runs. Mehedi Hasan picked 6 wickets while Shakib AL Hasan picked 4 wickets. None of England batsmen had the technique to face Bangladesh spinners.

With this win, the 2 match test series ended in a draw. Bangladesh almost won the 1st test match at Chittagong but fell short by just 22 runs.
